Ceramic films.

Ceramic films block about half the sunlight, and from the outside the glass still looks natural, just a little darker. Ceramic films cut out a decent amount of heat, so if you wanted a medium level tint with good performance and nothing shiny, this is the best choice. Ceramic films are also subtle enough that it’s usually easy to get HOA approval in most neighborhoods.

3M Ceramic Architectural has a great neutral-gray appearance, it really compliments a view looking out at a body of water or the sky. https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/1173216O/3m-sun-control-window-film-ceramic-architectural-family-card.pdf?&fn=98-0150-0751-5.pdf

If you’re looking for a warmer, earth tone ceramic film, I really like Huper Optik Ceramic Series. This film is beautiful if you are looking out at greenery or landscaping. Ceramic Series - Huper Optik

In these photos, you can tell that the glass is a little darker from the outside, but not reflective. Ceramic films give good heat reduction, good fade control, and they do provide a little bit of privacy, while only subtly changing the appearance on the outside.
